Information Skills: Is Google Enough?
As someone who uses the internet frequently, I thought I knew a fair bit already, but I learned a lot about the mechanics of search engines and many new techniques to try out. My use of the internet will definitely be more effective from now on. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable presenter made it extremely interesting.
The trainer was very enthusiastic and got the information over in a very effective way. The content was very interesting and her pleasant approach made the day enjoyable.
Beyond NOF: What's New?
It was an excellent course. Very well led, with lively style of presentation. So useful to have a day out for this sort of update - there just isn't time in the workplace.
This is an excellent course, very well delivered, which should be compulsory for anyone who works on the library enquiry desk.
One-to-One Training Skills
This training should be mandatory for taster session staff. It really provides helpful information on structuring sessions etc. - I cannot praise this highly enough!
I'll have more confidence when giving one-to-one taster sessions, with more insight into the way people learn
Probably the only course I haven't wanted to fall asleep in!
People's Network Training:
Net Navigator
I learned a lot from the course. The trainer was extremely articulate and obviously very knowledgeable about her subject, but put it across in an understandable way. The workbooks were easy to understand.
Having only recently completed my post-grad in library and information management I wasn't expecting to hear a great deal of new information. However, i'd also failed to realise how much search engines develop in one or two years, and found this section extremely interesting. The course was extremely well presented and well worth attending.
I found this an interesting and very useful day. Good balance between presentation and the practical exercises. Handouts mean that I can continue to improve my skills after the session ends ... very able and competent trainer.
It's been a useful day, just having the time to sit and work through various web sites without any pressure has been really useful, it's allowed us to work through things in a relaxed atmosphere and at our own pace.
Educator Day 1: Overview of Online Learning
I found the tutor very helpful with very clear instructions. I have learned a lot which will help me to help others. Thank you.
Trainers very friendly and approachable. Pleasant and useful experience - thanks.
Excellent workshop - very useful and very enjoyable. The time went really quickly. I will be putting the information learned to good use.
A very enjoyable day and very instructive.
Educator Day 2: Train the Trainer
Excellent - trainer's delivery was just right - showed an awareness of the context, was sensitive to our expressed needs/concerns, was pleasant, not rushed - I have done a lot of training myself but I learnt a lot about effective presentation - not just internet delivery - and I was very impressed!
It was very relevant to us in developing and delivering Internet training for the public using our libraries. We could have done with this 4 years ago!
As usual I have found the Netskills course to be very good with excellent notes to take away to practise later.
Information Consultant
Very worthwhile day and certainly an excellent follow on to the Net Navigator course; excellent high quality course book to accompany the sessions.
Very wide ranging and some excellent tips. Workbook very well set out with just the right amount of detail. Will continue to work through this at home. Lucy's presentation, as with the Net navigator course was excellent.
Very interesting, informative and well presented.
IT Gatekeeper
Excellent and enjoyable. Tutors were friendly and helpful.
Excellent course as usual from Netskills with an enthusiastic tutor.
Excellent - hard work but very useful and great fun when the HTML succeeded! I look forward to the next Netskills course.
Information Manager
Felt it was particularly good how flexibly the workshop was delivered. Changes in the running order to pick up filtering issues for example. I think the opportunity to work as a whole group (as we wanted, instead of smaller groups) was very good.
Discussion sessions very useful and stimulating.
