Assessment is a critical issue for all education sectors. As such, it was chosen to be the first theme of the Academy/JISC Collaboration initiative and aligns with the Academy’s focus on assessment as one of its themes for 2007-2008 involving its Subject Centres.
The assessment campaign is piloting an approach which is designed to open up access to the collective wealth of complementary skills, expertise and resources which exist in the area of assessment across both organisations and is an opportunity for the community to inform future development in this area. The campaign is using a variety of approaches, such as online questionnaires, focus groups, think tanks and workshops to raise awareness of existing resources, obtain participants’ views of the usefulness of those resources - and the ease with which they can be accessed - and to identify gaps in provision.
Netskills provided two workshops for the higher education community in January 2008 entitled Assessment for Learning: Harnessing Technologies.
The workshops were free for attendees from HE. They were supported by the Higher Education Academy and the JISC as part of the Academy/JISC Collaboration Initiative and its assessment campaign.
The workshops provided access to a wide range of assessment resources within a pedagogic context.
