Fundamentals of Training Skills: BTEC Award How to lay the foundations for great training

Designing and Developing effective training isn't as easy as it looks. This 2-day workshop explains the instructional theory behind training and discusses the common pitfalls - and how to avoid them. You will discover how to turn your ideas into reality by designing, planning and then developing sessions, activities and resources. This course will examine tools, tips, techniques, planning documents and resources you can take away and use with your own training.

The workshop is an intensive training experience. The number of places will be limited to allow you to work through your own specific training issues and questions with the Consultant Trainer and complete the work required for your qualification.

Candidates will complete a number of short practical assessments, they will receive tutor feedback and support, and by the end of the workshop, they will have completed the qualification, subject to final verification.

Topics

The workshop covers all the curriculum requirements of the Professional Development Award, made up of two specialist units:

Design Training

This unit considers the design process in depth and will equip candidates to decide on the best strategies for their own training programmes. These intelligent planning and design decisions will lead to more efficiency in the development stages and training that is more likely to achive its aims when delivered. Full unit description.

Develop Training

This unit examines the evaluation of different types of training resource and how to identify the most appropriate resources to support a training session. Material in different formats such as printed or online are discussed along with the advantages and disadvantages of creating bespoke resources compared with using existing or external resources. Who is it for?

The Award is aimed at anyone who has, or would like to have, a training role and wishes to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
