Using Technology to Support the Student Learning Experience



This workshop will explore a variety of technological resources and investigate their pedagogic value in supporting students. It is aimed at lecturers, learning technologists and educational developers interested in the use of technology to enhance learning and enrich the student learning experience.

Topics:

  • Technology and the learning experience - case studies
  • Learner to learner communications and learner to tutor/staff communications
  • Use of a range of social media tools to enhance student engagement e.g. blogs, wikis and social networking sites like Facebook
  • Mobile learning for a range of learning contexts
  • Learner access to resources
  • Information skills and the Google generation
  • Resources to support students on their learning journey

Who is it for?

This workshop is appropriate for lecturers and staff who support learning and teaching.

Participants should have previously used the World Wide Web and must have experience of using Microsoft Windows to open and save files and for opening and closing applications.

By the end of the workshop participants will have:

  • Examined the use of technology to enhance the learning experience
  • Investigated the application of learner to learner and tutor to learner communications
  • Evaluated and discussed communication resources to support students
  • Explored using social media tools to enhance student engagement
  • Investigated a number of student learning experience case studies
