Blogs and wikis offer simple, DIY, interactive publishing, while new social software tools enable collaboration online, whether sharing cutting edge research, CVs or holiday snaps. But is this just the latest craze or does it have the potential to revolutionise online information?

This workshop is aimed at anyone using or publishing web-based information, who want to get beyond the hype and learn about blogging and social networking, and what it can do for you.
No previous knowledge of the topics covered is required, but participants should be familiar with using a web browser.
By the end of the workshop participants will have:
- Learned more about blogs and reasons for using them
- Created and enhanced their own blog, incorporating multimedia, newsfeeds and more
- Explored real-life examples of wikis and social networking tools
- Discussed the potential and limitations of these developments
- Used group activities to explore issues facing organisations implementing these technologies
