Semantic Technologies For A More Powerful Web

10:00 - 16:00 Wednesday 22 June 2011
115 New Cavendish Street,University of Westminster

In this workshop we explore the benefits of a more semantic web and how you can use RDFa to enhance the discoverability, usability and popularity of your online resources.

The relative importance of a web page, compared to the information in it, is evolving. Today we rely upon search engines to interpret page content and links between web pages, guiding users to their goals with ranked search results. Increasingly, semantic information is being added to web content to provide extra meaning and clarify the relationship between resources. This leads to a richer web of information that can be effectively searched and navigated. RDFa (Resource Description Framework in attributes) is the key standard for adding semantic data to web content.
