Embedding Business and Community Engagement

09:30 - 16:00 Wednesday 27 June 2012
McClintock Suite,Centre for Life, Newcastle

In the past Business & Community Engagement (BCE) has been referred to as 'Third Stream', however it relates more closely to the term 'Third Mission' adopted by the Welsh Assembly, reflecting its strategic importance alongside Learning and Teaching (L&T) and Research across further and higher education. Certainly there is a great emphasis from the government on institutions working closely with industry and other communities.

Embedding Business & Community Engagement is a Free one-day workshop delivered by the Advisory Service, JISC infoNet. Participants will identify the BCE landscape relevant to their institution and will look at the methodology employed for the 18-month Embedding BCE project that worked with 5 institutional partners to identify how well core business processes such as (but not limited to) Finance, HR, IT, Information Systems, Libraries and Marketing supported work with communities.

The major findings of the project will be presented and delegates will leave with an enhanced knowledge of the many forms of Business & Community Engagement and a methodology for reviewing their own institution's activity and the way it is support by core functions.
