Digital Storytelling for Teaching and Learning

Stories play an important role in our understanding of the world and ourselves. They provide a way of constructing meaning around experiences in a way that can be communicated to others. Developments in web technology and the variety of digital media now available provide easy access to a wide range of tools for creating and sharing stories. This workshop will introduce you to a range of storytelling techniques and technologies to enhance teaching and learning and to show how they can be used for collaborative work and as an aid to critical reflection.

- Capturing the planning, execution and reflection of storytelling activities
- Exploring different tools for creating and sharing digital stories using images, video and sound
- Accommodating students own digital devices
- Finding and using web-based media
- Digital storytelling as a way of increasing access and inclusion in education

Who is it for?
The workshop is aimed at anyone who has a role in designing learning activities at any level and in any subject area and who wants to explore different approaches to teaching and learning.
No previous knowledge of the subject is required but participants should be familiar with using a web browser. Experience using digital media equipment like stills and video cameras is useful but not essential.
