An effective trainer needs more than just subject knowledge. Good training requires focussed planning, design, development and delivery.
Delivered over 3 days, this comprehensive workshop will combine practical work with discussions and question & answer sessions. It will provide a solid foundation in training design, development, delivery and evaluation techniques, which will enhance existing skills and build confidence in preparing and delivering professional training.
The workshop will be an intensive training experience. The number of places are limited to allow you to work through your own specific training issues and questions with the Consultant Trainer and complete the work required for your qualification.
The workshop is aimed at anyone who has, or would like to have, a training role and wishes to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
Thoroughly enjoyed the course. Content and pace were very good and whole thing was extremely well facilitated.

Danny, can I say what an excellent event yesterday's workshop was! So good to attend something that was focussed, relevant, interesting and well-structured...and backed up with really useful materials.
Excellent and really inspiring but at the same time very approachable.
New updated workshop format
We've updated and restructured our popular Certificate in Training Design & Delivery event following the success of the three-day format for our e-Learning and Web Development accredited workshops. This new streamlined workshop is easier to fit into your schedule and still gives you all you need to earn a BTEC Professional Development Certificate.
Course topics:
The workshop covers all the curriculum requirements of the Professional Development Certificate, made up of four specialist units:
- Design Training
- This unit considers the design process in depth and will equip candidates to decide on the best strategies for their own training programmes. These intelligent planning and design decisions will lead to more efficiency in the development stages and training that is more likely to achive its aims when delivered. Full unit description.
- Develop Training
- This unit examines the evaluation of different types of training resource and how to identify the most appropriate resources to support a training session. Material in different formats such as printed or online are discussed along with the advantages and disadvantages of creating bespoke resources compared with using existing or external resources. Full unit description.
- Deliver Training
- This unit covers the delivery stage of training, including event administration, preparation of the environment and delivery of activities. It discusses strategies for smooth running events and also for when things don't go to plan. This is the stage of the training process that participants experience directly, so it is key to meeting the intended outcomes. Full unit description.
- Evaluate Training
- This unit considers how to implement a well structured training evaluation - essential to determine the success or failure of the training. Effective evaluation will also allow demonstration of value and benefit, understanding of the relative success of different parts of the training and improves planning for the future. The unit examines methodology, design, data collection and analysis techniques. Full unit description.
As well as a rewarding learning experience, this event also provides recognition for your new skills and knowledge through our BTEC-accredited professional development programme.
The course is well run by a dedicated group of staff whose assessment is accurate and consistent throughout. Feedback is excellent both in quality and quantity, with learners being told what they must do to rectify errors and being allowed time to do so.

Why would I want a qualification?
Our training has a well-earned reputation for helping participants develop the practical skills they need. However, we know that sometimes you need proof of your abilities. That's why this event was designed to lead to a recognised qualification in training. It is awarded through BTEC, meaning that it's thoroughly quality controlled and widely recognised.
How do I get my qualification?
You will complete a number of short practical assessments, receive tutor feedback and support, and by the end of the workshop, you will have completed the qualification, subject to final verification.
Workshop Venue
The workshop will take place in the fabulously equipped Netskills Training Suite at Newcastle University. The Training Suite has recently been refurbished; it's a bright and airy space with a large lecture room, quality computer rooms and relaxed coffee areas (free coffee always available!).
About Newcastle
Newcastle upon Tyne is an historic city of cultural attractions and impressive architectural grandeur. Grey Street, in the heart of the city, was voted best street in Britain by Radio 4 listeners and described by John Betjeman as the most imposing facade in Western Europe ... Not even Regent Street, even old Regent Street London, can compare with that descending subtle curve.
The Quayside area by the River Tyne boasts the splendid BALTIC centre for contemporary art and the Sage Gateshead, home for music and musical discovery.
There are numerous bridges across the River Tyne, the best known being the Tyne Bridge which has not only become a symbol of the city but was also the prototype for the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The impressive new millenium bridge (aka the 'winking' or 'tilting' bridge) is also a must see!
If shopping is your love, you'll be overwhelmed with opportunity in Newcastle!
If you'd like to explore the region, Hadrian's Wall, Durham Cathedral, Alnwick Castle, Tynemouth Priory or the scenic Northumbrian coastline are all within easy reach. Whatever your preference, you're sure to have an enjoyable and memorable break.
