Cancellations

Do you charge for cancellations?

Cancelling a booking will be subject to the following cancellation charges:

  • Twenty working days before event £75
  • Ten working days before event HALF ROOM HIRE
  • Five working days before event FULL CHARGES (including those incurred for catering/software/other services)
  • Newcastle of University (internal cancellation policy) Any cancelled events will be subject to the full internal charge regardless of the date of cancellation.

Where can I find your terms and conditions of hire

When a date has been agreed, Netskills Training Suite staff will email a copy of your booking schedule together with a copy of our Terms and Conditions of Hire

Technical Questions

Do you have wireless connectivity

Newcastle University has access to the Eduroam service from JANET, which will enable educational users to make use of the Newcastle University network.

Non-educational users are advised to contact us us at least 10 working days prior to the event to request this service, in order for us to make the necessary arrangements.

Can I connect my laptop to your network?

It may be possible to permit non-educational users' equipment to access the Newcastle University network, however we advise you to contact us at least 10 working days prior to the event to request this service, in order for us to make the necessary arrangements.

Can we install our specialist software onto the PCs?

Our team of Technical advisers arrange the installation and configuration of all software, subject to testing and evaluation. See software installations for more information.

What standard software is installed on your PCs

Do you provide on-site support?

For problems with projectors, logins and coffee machines Training Suite staff on duty will be onsite to assist.

In the event of any technical glitches with software installations, we can arrange assistance if this arises during your event.

Do I have to pay for technical support?

In some cases we can arrange for a member of the Netskills Technical Team to work on-site, this is a charged at a daily fee.

Pre-event arrangements

Can the facilitator check the room prior to the event?

We encourage all new users of the Training Suite to familiarise themselves with the facilities prior to the event, contact us in advance.

Where are you located and do you have any information we can pass onto delegates?

The Netskills Training Suite is located on the 1st Floor of the Herschel Building, Newcastle University. How to find us details where we are, and contains useful links to maps, directions and services for delegates and facilitators.

Could we send our delegate packs in advance of our event for you to store?

Yes - materials can be sent in advance and will be stored. Send them to our address . You should also label the box with the date of your event and your facilitators name. If you send us an email to confirm when and how the parcel was despatched, we'll let you know when it arrives!

The day of your event

What time can the facilitator access the room on the day of the event?

The Netskills Training Suite will be open 15 minutes before the agreed booking time, facilitators and delegates will be given access, but they should be aware that their room might not be quite ready for them.

If earlier access is required, we can make arrangements, but this may incur an additional charge for out of hours use. In all cases, it is best to check with Training Suite staff.

Who will meet the facilitator on the day of the event?

On the day of your event Training Suite staff will be on site to meet your facilitator, we will brief them so they know what's what and the facilitator can ask any questions.

Do you have staff available to meet and greet delegates?

Training Suite staff are onsite throughout your event and can help with pre-event registration. Additional administrative services (within reason) is subject to additional charges and should be booked in advance.

Can I borrow a....

In most cases if you let us know what you need to borrow, be it a stapler, post-its, scissors, hole punch, 4-way extension, laptop cable, USB cable, headphones - we should be able to help - just ask.

If it's something bigger or (non-standard) like a floppy disk, microphone, extension lead, batteries, mobile phone charger - we'll do our best, subject to availability/additional charge.

Can you provide flipcharts?

All training rooms are provided with flipcharts and pens.

Are rooms air conditioned?

All of the training rooms are air conditioned and the temperature can be adjusted.

Do you have any rooms we can use for a discussion/break-out?

Most of our rooms have ample space for you to run discussion sessions away from the PC's. If you require additional space, it may possible for you to use your refreshment room, which we allocate to you for the duration of your event.

Are the toilet facilities far?

The Netskills Training Suite is self-contained, the toilets are within the facility, at the end of the corridor (including a disabled toilet).

Can I change the layout of the tables and chairs in the room I've booked?

The tables and chairs in Training Room 1.05 and PC Room 1.14 can be moved around to suit the event, if requested in advance this will be ready for you. Alternatively you can rearrange them on the day.

Refreshments and Lunch

What are the arrangements for refreshments?

All of our hire charges include the use of our fully stocked tea/coffee machines, your facilitators and delegates can help themselves to hot drinks throughout the event. We supply a range of decaffeinated tea and coffee, herbal and fruit teas, chilled water and biscuits.

We've ordered food - what are the arrangements?

Catering ordered through the Netskills Training Suite will be set up in your Refreshment room, at your preferred time. All we ask is that used crockery is returned to the buffet tables when finished, as you found it.

We are happy for Organisers to make their own arrangements for the delivery of catering. You should provide Training Suite staff with details about your caterer and what time they are due to deliver - so they can ensure your food is delivered to the correct room.

We also ask that your caterers collect their equipment before the end of your event.

Can you accommodate delegates with specific dietary requirements?

Food ordered from us includes 50% vegetarian choice as standard and all vegetarian food is labelled. Where notice is given for other requirements a plated dish will be provided and labelled with either the delegates name (if provided) or information about the dish.
