e-Assessment: Tools & Techniques
This workshop focuses on tools available for creating online assessment and the practical techniques required to use them effectively. Participants will have the opportunity to evaluate a range of assessment tools that can be used to create different types of assessment. In particular, we will focus on the emerging assessment management system TOIA, which is freely-available to UK HE and FE. These tools will be considered in terms of their functionality and interoperability with other tools and systems such as VLEs.

Who is it for?
This workshop is intended for teaching practitioners who would like to create, deliver and manage online assessment. It would also suitable for staff supporting the teaching and learning process.
This is an introductory workshop and does not assume any prior experience of online assessment tools or knowledge of technical standards such as QTI. However, basic computer skills are essential and experience of using Microsoft Windows would be helpful.
By the end of the workshop participants will have:
- Increased awareness of the potential of online assessment
- Practical skills in using a range of common assessment tools
- In-depth practical skills in the use of TOIA
- Appreciation of the importance of assessment formats for interoperability, sharing and re-use of assessments
