Overview
Developing and authoring dynamic web applications requires a sound understanding of the fundamentals of programming. Having picked up the skills required to present web content using HTML and CSS, many developers find the move towards incorporating programming technologies within their web sites more challenging.
This unit will introduce the core web programming concepts and languages used to add dynamic functionality to web sites.

- Introduction to web programming languages and environments (e.g. JavaScript, PHP, Java, ASP etc.)
- Core programming fundamentals (variables, loops, conditionals etc.)
- Practical programming to build web applications
- Designing and planning web applications
- Selecting suitable programming technologies for web development projects
- Script repositories - the pitfalls (and benefits) of using someone else's code
