Marc joined Netskills in 2008 having previously worked at One NorthEast, the Regional Development Agency for the North East of England where he was involved in the management of a portfolio of projects funded by One NorthEast in Emerging Technologies, working with partners including the Universities in the North East, Centres of Excellence and Business to ensure successful delivery of projects to benefit the North East region.

At Netskills, Marc's current interests, where he will be developing and delivering training include:

  • Web technologies including web development using XHTML
  • Server side scripting languages such as PHP and ASP
  • Client side technologies such as JavaScript
  • Databases on the web and developing dynamically driven web sites
  • XML
  • Web 2.0 Technologies

Marc will also be involved in project work focusing on the use of web-based collaborative tools within Business and Community Engagement and will be involved in the development and delivery of training in this area.

With a background in IT and primarily Internet technologies, Marc has a BSc (Hons) in Software Engineering from Durham University. Previously, Marc has worked as a Researcher and subsequently Project Manager at the Centre for Internet Technologies at the University of Sunderland, carrying out development and management work on a number of regional and European funded projects, primarily in the development of business to business procurement and online trading systems using XML and working with project partners from both Universities and Industry across Europe. He has taught on undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the School of Computing at Technology since 2000 in areas including web development using XHTML, databases for the web and scripting languages such as PHP and ASP.

Marc has also been involved in Business and Community Engagement (BCE) activity having worked on a Continuing Professional Development (AURIL-CPD) national programme of workshops and accredited programmes for Knowledge Transfer Professionals.

Marc has worked in the public sector since 1999, with most of this within an education, research and professional development context.
