Chris Young is the Senior Consultant Trainer at Netskills and is one of the longest serving members of the team - with over eight years experience in designing and delivering training for a variety of organisations, both in the UK and Europe. He currently manages the Netskills national and onsite training programmes and also has responsibility for the Web Development qualifications that form part of the Netskills/BTEC Accreditation Programme.
Starting in 1995 with a text editor and a copy of Mosaic 2.0, Chris first got into web site development in his previous guise as an Marine Biologist and Oceanographer, using the web to exchange research information and develop research group and departmental web pages.
Since then he has built up a comprehensive and expert knowledge of web development skills and technologies and now leads the Netskills Web Technologies development group.
Chris's particular interests and expertise are in:
Chris also teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate degree modules at Newcastle University, covering a range of web development topics. This work has included the development and introduction of university-approved, fully practical web development examinations.
During his time at Netskills, Chris has also delivered training to public library staff through the NOF Advanced Training programme, teaching web development, standards and accessibility for the IT Gatekeeper role. He has well established links with bodies such as UKOLN and TechDis, being a regular contributor to their conferences and events.
I've been to a couple of Chris's workshops and they are always interesting and entertaining. Chris shows a genuine knowledge and enthusiasm for the topic.
