Netskills has recently been awarded funding to pilot two training projects in the schools sector.
Funded by the Eduserv Foundation, as part of its Information Literacy Initiative, the projects will investigate the information skills of teachers and raise awareness of effective methods of deterring plagiarism.
The first project, to be piloted in North-East England, involves a survey into the information habits of teachers, followed by two one-day workshops to help teachers evaluate and improve their own information skills.
Helen Conroy, the trainer leading this project says, "Everyone needs to be able to find and use information effectively. This workshop will involve the use of a self-assessment which will help teachers to identify strengths and weaknesses in their information skills, as well as providing practical tips to improve their skills."
The second project is aimed at raising awareness of plagiarism and how to deter it, exploring the dual role of the web in facilitating and combatting plagiarism. This project involves running four pilot workshops around the UK.
