Shaping the future - Netskills supports top e-Learning conference

Netskills is working closely with the JISC e-Learning Programme to provide support for the biggest online e-Learning conference in the UK.

The 2012 conference, titled Innovating e-Learning: Shaping the future, takes place in November and will use the online meeting platform Blackboard Collaborate.

This year, Netskills will be supporting registration, in-session support and developing a Moodle site for the conference resources and discussions.

Online delivery gaining momentum

The Netskills support team is being led by Consultant Trainer Chris Thomson, whose expertise lies in online delivery.

There's growing interest in delivering large scale events online, not just because of the green agenda and reduced travel costs but also because they enable people to participate in different ways, Chris said.

You can hear influential speakers and take part in interesting discussions without leaving your desk.

Naturally, certain aspects of a face-to-face conference will be missed but we work hard to use the technology in innovative ways, enabling attendees to connect with each other as easily as possible.

Busy fortnight ahead

Working alongside Chris are Christina Hunter (Blackboard Collaborate support), Simon Fitzpatrick (Moodle site development), Phil Swinhoe (registration), Steve Boneham (social media expertise) and Lisa Vincent (sharing knowledge from previous year's conference).

Chris is excited about working with the team on this event.

The e-Learning team at JISC always find great, thought-provoking speakers for the conference and this year will doubtless be no exception.

It's going to be a very busy fortnight but I'm really looking forward to it.

Innovating e-Learning 2012 takes place on 19 - 23 November, with the preceding conference activity week running from 13 November.
