Web tools for administrators showcased at national conference

An audience at the UK's biggest annual event for academic administrative staff, the AUA Annual Conference and Exhibition, heard about the benefits of Web 2.0 tools at a Netskills breakout session.

Titled Web tools for administrators: how to harness the web to make your life easier, the session looked at how free web-based tools, technologies and resources can help busy administrators.

It was run by Netskills Training & Administration Co-ordinator Lisa Vincent and is based on a workshop she developed as part of a project supported by the Newcastle University Staff Development Unit.

This was the first time I've delivered at a conference, and I was really pleased with how well the session was received and how well it fitted with the overall agenda of the conference, Lisa said.

My aim was to provide everyone with one new web tool or resource to take away, and achieving this was the best reward for me.

Themes at this year’s conference included career and personal development, sharing good practice and developing new skills.
