Elluminate offers new approach to JISC briefing events

Netskills helped to organise and deliver a first-of-its-kind online briefing event last week for the JISC UK Open Education Resources (UKOER) programme.

Lisa Vincent from Netskills provided in-session support during the 3 briefing sessions, held via Elluminate, assisting both moderators and participants. She also ensured that recordings of the sessions were available promptly afterwards.

Lisa, who is managing Elluminate training and support at Netskills, said the sessions went extremely well with over 50 participants attending some of the sessions.

Set for a bright future

Lisa is especially pleased that Netskills’ training and support for Elluminate has added value, helping users to make effective use of the technology. She said:

“This community briefing event is one of the many ways in which Elluminate can be used to help support projects and programmes; it's not a one-dimensional product, there are numerous possibilities."

“This could be the blueprint for future JISC briefing events, providing potential bidders with the information they need but without the associated time and money costs of a face-to-face event.”

Netskills also provided support for the JISC online e-Learning conference last November, delivered via Elluminate. Both will be part of the team again for the 2010 conference later this year.
