News: Exploring the role of technology in communities of practice

Netskills had a strong presence at a one-day conference in London this week, expanding their knowledge and understanding of communities of practice.

The highly interactive event featured a keynote from Dr Etienne Wenger, world leading expert in social learning.

Titled Mediating Boundaries, the conference explored how emergent web technologies can enhance the relationship between the academic community and the wider world.

The conference was co-organised by Netskills' Will Allen as part of the JISC Advance Trialling Collaborative Tools for Business and Community Engagement project.

Consultant trainer Chris Thomson attend the day, describing it as challenging yet very interesting. He said:

"The open discussion session was extremely thought-provoking, helping me to understand our role at Netskills to support the academic community to make best use of new technologies."
