News: Workshops address key issues in staff development and engagement

Three free workshops are taking place in April and May as part of an innovative project that is supporting staff development for external engagement activities. Places are limited, so early booking is advisable.
The workshops, titled 'Supporting Professional Development for Engagement', look to bring together key professionals to discuss the issues, share ideas and explore new resources. HE and FE professionals who provide staff development within an institution or manage and deliver engagement activities with external business and community partners are invited to attend.
These workshops form part of a JISC-funded Business Community Engagement (BCE) project, which is creating an integrated and accessible training support package together with a simple tool to identify the most useful resources for each user.
The project manager, Helen Blanchett, from JISC Netskills, hopes that the workshops will generate lively discussion about the issues in staff development and contribute towards national strategy.
She said: “We have been working closely with the key stakeholders since the outset of the project. These workshops are bringing the conversation back to the end users, helping us make sure that the end product is relevant, useful and serves their needs.”
