As part of the Institutional Web Management Workshop 2006 held at the University of Bath last week Netskills staff presented current research work in to the potential of using web services to enhance e-Learning solutions.
Over the last 9 months Netskills Consultant Trainer Paul Trueman has been conducting research in to the use of Java based web services. "The workshop presented an exciting opportunity to discuss and gain feedback from the web development community" he commented. "Attendees tried out a range of Java based web services aimed at making VLE solutions more flexible." The work presented was well received providing an insight in to the potential of Java web services for academic environments.
Attendees were encouraged to complete a survey in to the future opportunities that Java web services provide. Survey feedback and results of the research project will be published in an upcoming edition of Ariadne.
