News: 31 universities represented at assessment workshop

Netskills recently completed a programme of two workshops on the theme of Assessment for Learning. The workshops were supported by The Higher Education Academy/JISC Collaboration Team as part of their assessment campaign.

The workshops explored a range of assessment resources and investigated their pedagogic value. They investigated the levels of learning linked to assessment and learning objectives in assessment design.

Places on the workshops, held in Oxford and Newcastle, were free and attendees included lecturers, learning technologists and educational developers. A total of 55 people took part from 31 different institutions.

A number of staff from HEA Subject Centres and JISC Services acted as facilitators during the workshops. Also, sessions on plagiarism and assessment were provided by Dr Fiona Duggan from the Academic Integrity Service and by Jude Carol from the Assessment Standards Knowledge Exchange.

Feedback from participants showed that the workshops were very well recieved with an average rating of 4.1 (5 = excellent).

One participant commented:

If the Academy/JISC sponsors another day like this, please let me know as I would like a colleague to attend.
