News: Our man in Santiago
Netskills has been delivering training outside the British Isles again, Consultant Trainer Will Allen spending two days at Universidad de Oriente in Cuba last autumn.
"It was a wonderful and eye-opening trip," Will said. "Everyone was extremely welcoming and the staff and postgrads who attended my workshops were really interested to learn about how they can use more than simply email... that is, when it's not raining and the servers aren't switched off!" he added.
Will delivered sessions on writing your first web page and about using online tools for collaboration. "The HTML sessions were particularly well received," Will said. "At home, we've seen the demand move away from basic web creation to the use of more sophisticated tools & services, and our training reflects that. However, the basic principles of good web design remain the same and are particularly relevant in countries like Cuba where the infrastructure is still being developed."
Netskills has a long history of training overseas, from a programme of British Council funded workshops in Colombo, Sri Lanka to Internet Society (ISOC) Network Training workshops in a number of countries, including the Czech Republic, Canada, USA and Japan.
