News: Think the unthinkable with Scenario Planning

Anticipate the impact of an unthinkable world on our new Scenario Planning workshop. Attendance is free for members of the JISC Users & Innovation Community of Practice (Emerge), JISC Services and other JISC funded projects.

Lawrie Phipps, programme manager of the JISC Users & Innovation programme, says:

"Scenario planning is a tool that forces us to go beyond what we think we know and into areas that we often consider to be unthinkable. Taking the time to step into these scenarios provides us with an opportunity to be creative and to test our ideas in a safe and supportive environment."

The workshop provides an overview of the scenario planning process and how scenario thinking can benefit your project or organisation. The process is interactive and uses imaginative techniques to encourage groups to exchange knowledge and experience and to think creatively.

To find out more about Scenario Planning, book a place on one of our forthcoming events:

* 21st February (Birmingham)

* 28th February (Leeds)

Netskills trainers Helen Conroy and Will Allen have developed the workshop. Will said:

"Scenario planning is all about exploring a range of future possibilities, both positive and negative. It's not risk analysis or assessment, but is more about how organisations and projects can manage the implications of the world changing around them. These workshops provide an excellent opportunity for a range of people within the JISC community to get together and consider scenario planning as a tool, and also to explore a number of potential scenarios for the future of Higher Education."
