News: Putting Newcastle on the (Google) map

Netskills has built a custom Google maps application to showcase the international nature of research being carried out at Newcastle University.

The research map was developed for the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology. Rob Walton, School Manager said:

"We came to Netskills with a set of vague ideas about using our website to showcase our international research. Netskills listened, understood and came up with a product which provides everything we had hoped for, as well as being easy for us to manage. The map has provided a considerable visual enhancement to our site, conveying information in a novel way that we feel sure will attract visitors."

Steve Boneham was the lead developer for the project. He said:

"We discussed a range of possible solutions with the customer and this was the one that suited them best. A key factor was that by exploiting an existing web application, we were able to complete the project very quickly."

Rob added: "I was really pleased with the way Netskills were able to work with us and meet our needs, and I look forward to working with them again."
