News: Just what the doctor ordered!

When the HE Academy Subject Centre for Medicine, Dentistry & Veterinary Medicine asked us to help raise awareness of e-Learning, our 'prescription' was one course of Netskills training.

Netskills trainer, Steve Boneham, said, "The subject centre wanted to provide training for their community on e-Learning products such as Intute, Jorum, Reload and TOIA. We developed a custom workshop to show what each tool can do and how they can work together."

The event attracted attendees with diverse roles, from rheumatologists to learning technologists, all of whom gave very positive feedback, such as "I learned about a lot of new systems for use within e-Learning - finding better ways to access information for myself and for our students."

Dr. Megan Quentin-Baxter, Director (acting) of the subject centre said "This was planned as a quick look at all the major JISC tools and services, from tailoring live searches in My Intute portal to detecting plagiarism, and accessing content from Jorum and the OpenLearn initiatives. Netskills did a great job of packing a lot in using a mixture of 'show and tell' and hands-on techniques. Participants had a go at accessing the best of the resources, and left with comprehensive documentation."

Netskills offer training in an extensive range of e-Learning tools and services - but, if like the subject centre, you can't find exactly what you need - just ask!
