Access our Training Materials using your institutional login

Staff and students from most UK universities and colleges no longer need to register a username and password to access our Training Materials. As part of a major revamp of the online access system, we've added the ability for users from licence holding institutions to login using their normal institutional details - via the UK Access Management Federation.

Netskills recently ran two workshops in Dublin for the Irish Health Sciences Libraries Group. Topics included using Web 2.0 technologies and advanced web searching, tailored to health librarians. Both workshops were oversubscribed and very well received.

Netskills at the RSC Eastern e-Fair

Netskills recently attended the RSC Eastern e-Fair at Barnfield College in Luton. Attended by over 160 people, the e-fair provided a great opportunity to share good practice and showcase innovative use of technology.

New web site, computers and reception for Netskills Training Suite

Netskills' Newcastle based training facility, Netskills Training Suite, reopened this week after a refurbishment and equipment upgrade. The work included new computers and a redesigned reception and coffee area. To accompany this the Training Suite now takes its place alongside other services on the Netskills website.

Enhance Learning with Technology workshop is a winner

Participants from over 30 higher and further education institutions recently took part in workshops investigating the use of technology to enhance learning, teaching and assessment. The workshops, facilitated by Netskills, formed part of the JISC/Academy programme to support academic staff.

Securing future access to web resources

This year Netskills has helped over 120 institutions make the transition to the UK Access Management Federation by showing them how to act as an Identity Provider for their users, thereby securing access to the online resources they are licensed to use.

New Team for Business and Community Engagement

3 staff from Netskills and JISC InfoNet have formed the new national Business and Community Engagement (BCE) coordination team representing the 7 JISC Advisory Services. Rob Allen heads the team, with Marc Dobson and Andrew Stewart, based between the universities of Newcastle and Northumbria. Working closely with the JISC BCE programme manager, Simon Whittemore, the team will provide a key link between JISC Innovation Group, JISC Services and staff working in BCE activities in universities and colleges.
